* Assuming an agency has an existing, configured AASHTOWare Safety instance and all required data
Our Customer Success team helps agencies turn crash data into actionable insights. The processes below show how they’re making their communities safer.
The Utah Department of Public Safety uses Numetric to build helpful internal reporting dashboards that save time.
* Assuming an agency has an existing, configured AASHTOWare Safety instance and all required data
The Utah Department of Public Safety (UDPS) partnered with Numetric to launch two dashboards that save their team a significant amount of time that would’ve previously been spent gathering information for reports.
On a quarterly basis, UDPS needs to retrieve crash data to report on the Performance Measures created for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Safety Grants. To make this process easier, UDPS worked with Numetric to create the internal Highway Safety Performance Measures Dashboard.

The dashboard meets the needs of multiple team members and helps them get the information they need more efficiently.

With the Performance Measures Dashboard, the UDPS Traffic Records Program Manager and Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Analyst can quickly pull this data and create reports on the outlined Performance Measures.
There’s no need to create new queries or manually sift through static crash data spreadsheets—all of the information they need is readily available on the dynamic dashboard. UDPS program managers use the dashboard to track their progress toward their goals easily.
“The data for the Utah Crash Summary is derived from Utah crash reports. Law enforcement officers complete these reports throughout the state who investigate crash scenes on public roadways. Information is collected when a crash involves injuries, deaths, or at least $2,500 in property damage. Crash reports are uploaded daily to the Utah Department of Public Safety data warehouse for central collection. Additional information is collected on fatal crashes at the Department of Public Safety’s Highway Safety Office and compiled into the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) database. FARS is a national data system containing data on all fatal traffic crashes in the U.S.”

UDPS also partnered with Numetric to create another dashboard to help their team quickly answer frequently asked media questions. The Media Talking Points Dashboard is divided into tabs of focus areas that display specific data points and easy-to-read charts and graphs. It significantly decreases the time it takes UDPS to gather information to answer common media questions. Additionally, UDPS plans to eventually share the dashboard directly with media members to empower them to find the data independently.
