Michigan State Police (MSP) use Crash Query to promptly fulfill public records requests (FOIA).
* Assuming an agency has an existing, configured AASHTOWare Safety instance and all required data
Michigan State Police (MSP) receives several Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests weekly from residents across the state of Michigan. Historically, fulfilling these requests has been a time-consuming task for MSP officials.
MSP uses Crash Query to drastically reduce the time it takes their department to fulfill FOIA requests. MSP adopted Crash Query to view the latest traffic crash data, create custom queries, and build shareable crash reports. Thanks to Crash Query, MSP’s Crash Unit can now fulfill FOIA requests within two days. Users can also save queries and iterate on the data as needed for future requests.
This expedited workflow has improved FOIA fulfillment timelines statewide. MSP empowers local city and county police agencies across Michigan with Crash Query access to process requests within their jurisdictions. What was once a lengthy undertaking for MSP is now a streamlined and systematic process with positive statewide impacts.
